The Soldier’s Creed

thevirginiagentleman:

Being a soldier has caused me to drastically change the way I do things, the way I carry myself and how I view key issues.  It has caused me to become stronger.  But also it has caused me to make sacrifices that honestly I feel unsure about.  So here I sit at 0021 hours after a stressful evening contemplating life.  Contemplating the choices I have made.  Looking for some sort of positive sign that what I’m doing is in fact what I am meant to do.  So I decided to go back to the core of what makes me who I am: The Soldier’s Creed.

I am an American Soldier- This statement, while obvious, has a much deeper meaning.    It defines my existence and sets forth a way for me to identify myself.

I am a warrior and a member of the team- I am not just some desk job 9-5er.  I am a warrior, possibly one of the oldest professions in the world.  Not only that but I am surrounded by my brothers.  Those who have seen/done the same things I have.

I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values- Thats right folks I have to put my needs to the side and do whats best for my country, what I have sworn to do.  I know you can’t understand this but you have to try.

I will always place the mission first- This is an easy one to disregard.  Often times the mission is something so unimportant that we could care less about it.  We have to have discipline to accomplish the small things.  And let me tell you discipline is easier said than done.

I will never accept defeat- I represent the greatest nation on earth.  Defeat and failure for that matter are simply unacceptable.

I will never quit- This is one of the key statements that separates a soldier from a civilian.  Even against all odds we have to follow this.  Call it stupidity.  Call it ignorance, stubbornness or just plain hard headedness.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills- Physically tough, thats the easy part.  Mentally tough is something you have to spend time with.

I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself- That’s right we are a well oiled machine and trust me you don’t want none.

I am an expert and a professional- Maybe my favorite line.  It means so much I cant even begin to explain.  The uniform I wear wasn’t just given to me.  I had to earn it.  And when I did it came with a set of rules for how I have to carry myself. We are not some group of trigger happy hooligans.  We are held to the highest standards and will act accordingly.

I stand ready to deploy engage and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat- Come at me bro!

I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life- Guardian angles no longer have halos and wings.  We have digital camo and heavy firepower.  Who you gonna call? Ghostbu…..wrong, US Army.

I am an American Soldier

all i have to say is HOOAH!
